On Septemeber 4, 2017, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development of Brazil (BNDES) approved a credit of circa USD 22.3 million for the Brazilian company Piraquê S/A to finance the construction of a biscuit factory and distribution centre in Queimados. The objective of the company is to improve its production, operation, marketing and logistics processes to boost its growth beyond the biscuits and pasta market in the region. Direct competitors are Nestlé, Bauducco, Mabel, Marilan, Parati and Mondelez.
