In August 2017, the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection announced it would be adjusting its import policy vis-à-vis scrap and waste products from as early as the end of 2017
Products mentioned in the announcement are grouped into three categories: prohibited; 'limited import' and allowed. In 2017, 28 items were added to the prohibited list. The other lists remained unchanged.
Prohibited imports include paper, tyres, glass and various kinds of organic wastes, as well as mining waste of various metals.
