On August 9, 2017, the Ministry of Production of Argentina issued Decree 622/2017 reducing from 14% to 2% the import tariff on 274 capital goods.
The objective of this legislative act is to reduce production costs by allowing producers to import cheaper machinery.
The sectors that should benefit the most from this import duty reduction identified by the government are poultry producers, the fruit sector, the paper and textile industries, the publishing sectors, the plastic and rubber processing industry and the metallurgical industry.
Members states of MERCOSUR are not affected by this import duties.
