In 2011 Oregon enacted a law authorizing school districts to apply for reimbursement of the costs to purchase Oregon food products and food-based, agriculture-based and garden based educational activities. On August 2, 2017 the governor of Oregon signed into law a new bill (HB2038) excluding milk and bakery products from noncompetitive grant funding under this buy-local program.
