Import tariff quota

On August 19, 2016, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution No. 76 introducing tariff-rate quotas on viscose rayon and certain vaccines falling under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM): 5403.31.00, 3002.20.29 and 3002.20.27. Hereto, the import duty was reduced from 18% to 2% on viscose rayon with a quota of 624 tonnes for a period of 180 days. The import tariff on vaccines against the Papillomavirus and on vaccines against diphtheria was reduced from ad volume 2% to 0% with a quota of 3,000,000 and 2,500,000 doses respectively for a period of 6 months. 

All three import tariff quotas entered into force on August 22, 2016.

Update:

On January 23, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber, announced the publication of Resolution 1 in the Official Gazette, extending for an extra six months the tariff rate quota on vaccines against Papillomavirus and on viscose rayon. In this last case, the quotas for increased from 624 to 625 tonnes. For more details, please see related measures.
