Import tariff quota
On August 19, 2016, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution No. 76 introducing tariff-rate quotas on viscose rayon and certain vaccines falling under the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM): 5403.31.00, 3002.20.29 and 3002.20.27. Hereto, the import duty was reduced from 18% to 2% on viscose rayon with a quota of 624 tonnes for a period of 180 days. The import tariff on vaccines against the Papillomavirus and on vaccines against diphtheria was reduced from ad volume 2% to 0% with a quota of 3,000,000 and 2,500,000 doses respectively for a period of 6 months.
All three import tariff quotas entered into force on August 22, 2016.
On January 23, 2017, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber, announced the publication of Resolution 1 in the Official Gazette, extending for an extra six months the tariff rate quota on vaccines against Papillomavirus and on viscose rayon.
