Import tariff

On June 24, 2016, the Official Gazette of Brazil published the Resolution 58 issued by the Foreign Trade Council, announcing temporary duty-free imports of certain beans (HS Codes 0713.33.19 and 0713.33.99). The previously applicable import tariff was 10%. The reduced duty applies until September 30, 2016.

List of Exceptions to the Common External Tariff
The tariff codes were included in the List of Exceptions to the Common External Tariff (LETEC) of Mercosur, which is a mechanism that allows member states of Mercosur to apply customs duties that are lower or higher than otherwise listed in the Mercosur Common External Tariff schedule.

However, the tariffs shall not surpass the ceilings given by the WTO. Mercosur Decision CMC no. 26/15 gives Brazil the right to maintain a list of 100 codes based on the Mercosur Common Nomenclature until 31 December 2021.

Update:
On September 29, 2016, The Brazilian the Foreign Trade Council issued Resolution 92 extending until December 31, 2016, the duty-free import of certain beans.
