ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYYes
The government of Turkey increased for 30% its flight subsidies for charter flights carrying at least 150 tourists in planes with a capacity of 200 or more.
The flight subsidies were initially introduced earlier in 2016 to boost the number of tourists in the country (please see related measure). The original subsidies amounted to USD 6'000 per flight. International and domestic flights, as well as local and foreign airlines, are eligible for the original and the increased subsidies. Nevertheless, in this context, it is relevant denoting that the original subsidies of USD 6'000 per flight (introduced on January 2016) were not distinguishing between flights on the basis of flight capacity or a number of passengers. The new increased flight subsidies, however, do make such a distinction -- as they only apply to flights carrying a minimum number of 150 tourists in planes with a capacity of 200 or more.
The original and the increased subsidy are only applicable for flights carrying passengers to the following tourism destinations:
The increased subsidies were introduced from 1 June to 31 August 2016. They were later prolonged until 31 December 2017.
