Import tariff quota
On March 29, 2016, the Government of Mexico passed an Agreement modifying the allocation of import tariff quotas on beans. The new agreement increased the allocation of the duty-free import quota of beans for 2016 by 50,000 metric tonnes, allowing a total duty-free import quota of 150,000 metric tonnes. Previously, the import tariff quota was set at 100,000 metric tonnes.
In addition, the new agreement temporarily reduced the quantities that could be allocated to each solicitor to 12,500 tonnes.
Only for the year 2016, the 150,000 metric tonnes were to be distributed between April 1, and November 30.
