Safeguard

The safeguard investigation was initiated on 17 June 2009 (Notification 2009/8). The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code subheading: 7009.91. The safeguard measure was originally imposed in 2005. 

On 13 February 2010, the Turkish authorities extended the safeguard measure on imports of the subject good from Iran for a period of four years (Notification 2010/6). 

On 6 March 2010, the Turkish authorities clarified the specific safeguard measure imposed on imports of the subject good from Iran. The safeguard measure is applied as an import quota and is imposed through an import licensing regime. Licenses to export the subject good are granted to Iranian exporters on a first-come-first-served basis and is limited to 25000 kg per permit. The rate of import quota in the first year, starting from 3 July 2009, is 1481 tonnes. The rate of import quota in the second year is 1555.050 tonnes. The rate of import quota in the third year is 1632,802 tonnes. The rate of import quota in the fourth year is 1714,442 tonnes. The measure is in force until and including 2 July 2013.

On 5 May 2013, the Turkish authorities initiated a sunset review of the safeguard measure imposed on import of unframed glass mirror from Iran (Notification 3/2013).

On 2 July 2013, the Turkish authorities extended the safeguard measure imposed on imports of the subject good from Iran (Notification 4/2013). The safeguard measure is applied as an import quota. The rate of import quota in the first year, starting from 3 July 2013, is 1800 tonnes. The rate of import quota in the second year is 1890 tonnes. The rate of import quota in the third year is 1985 tonnes. The rate of import quota in the fourth year is 2084 tonnes. The measure is in force until 2 July 2017.

On 23 July 2013, the Turkish authorities clarified the conditions of the safeguard measure imposed on imports of the subject good from Iran. The safeguard measure, in the form of an import quota, is applied through an import licensing regime. Licenses to export the subject good are granted to Iranian exporters on a first come first served basis and is limited to 25000 kg per permit.

On 22 April 2017, the Turkish authorities initiated a sunset review of the safeguard measure imposed on import of unframed glass mirror from Iran (Notification 3/2017).
