Production subsidy

On 7 August 2014, the president of the Republic of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, announced the establishment of stimulus measures for employment and manufacturing enclosed in the newly created ProEmplear Program. This program increases the benefits available through the Productive Recovery Programme (REPRO) and the Progress Programme (Progresar Plan).

In the case of the REPRO plan, the Government increased the monthly subsidies that employees working in companies with financial difficulties could obtain. The new value of the subsidy was set at 2,000 Argentine pesos (USD 242) whereas before it was set at 1,500 Argentine pesos (USD 182). Employees could only benefit from this subsidy for a maximum of one year.

In the case of the Progresar Plan, the program focused on young adults between 18 and 24 years old that are unemployed. On the one hand, the young citizens pursuing apprenticeships in Argentinian companies could enjoy a monthly subsidy of 2,000 Argentine pesos (USD 242) for a six month period. On the other hand, if after the six-months internship the company decided to hire this person, then the company could enjoy up to 2,700 (USD 327) Argentinian pesos per worker over a year, to afford part of the new employee's wage.
