On March 30, 2017 Premier Kathleen Wynne of Ontario and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that their governments are each providing Ford of Canada with a conditional grant of up to Can.$102.4 million (US$76.5 million) as part of a $1 billion partnership. Ford is also establishing an Ottawa Research and Engineering Centre. The new Ottawa Research and Engineering Centre in Canada will focus on research and development across infotainment, in-vehicle modems, gateway modules, driver-assist features and autonomous vehicles. This will be Ford’s first centre focused on connectivity research and advanced technology in Canada, and it will serve global connectivity needs for Ford.
