Export ban

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has permitted the exports of groundnut, sesame, soyabean and maize oil in bulk packaging. Earlier exports of these edible oils were permitted only in consumer packs of up to 5 kgs. and with a minimum export price of USD 900 per metric tonne.

The Ministry has since 2008 prohibited the export of edible oils but has reduced/modified the restriction on certain edible oils on an as-need-be basis.
