U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced a reclassification ruling in the March 8, 2017 edition of Customs Bulletin and Decisions that resulted in elimination of the tariff applicable to non-motorized knee scooters that provide greater mobility to people with leg injuries. The item had previously been classified under HTSUS subheading 8716.80.5090 (3.2% duty), but CBP has ruled that they may be reclassified under HTSUS subheading 9021.10.00 (duty-free). Australia, Canada, China, and Mexico are the principal suppliers of this product. The final revocation and modification became effective for goods entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption on or after May 8, 2017.
