The Central Bank of Nigeria on 09 May 2013, via Circular BPS/DIR/CIR/04/2013 titled as “Deposit Money Banks, Cheque Printers and other Stakeholders on the the Accreditation of Cheque Printers for 2013/14”, for the first time authorised only Nigerian printing companies to print cheque books which are to be used in the Nigerian territory for a given fiscal year (on contrary to previous fiscal years when foreign companies were authorised to print  these denoted cheque books).

The Circular stated that their decision is in line with the Bank's policy on "domestication of Cheque production in the country", and, therefore, no foreign cheque printer was from 2014 to be considered or accredited to print for the Nigerian market.

The Nigerian printing companies that acquired the accreditation to be the exclusive printers of cheque books for the country were:

  • Tripple Gee and Company Plc
  • Superflux International Limited

Furthermore, the Central Bank of Nigeria did for the fiscal year 2014/15 and 2015/16 extend to solely Nigerian firms the authorization to print cheque books which are to be used in the Nigerian territory for a given fiscal year. Furthermore, Nigerian Security Printing And Minting Plc and Euphoria Group were added to the list of authorised printers for the two prior denoted fiscal years (in addition to Tripple Gee and Company Plc and Superflux International Limited).
