Financial assistance in foreign market
The overseas investment loan agreement between JBIC and Marubeni Iron Ore Australia Pty. Ltd has a maximum value of AUD 1.063 billion (approx. USD 1.11 billion). The company is an Australian subsidiary of the Japanese company Marubeni Corporation.
The loan finances the Australian subsidiary's equity contribution to the Roy Hill Holdings Pty Ltd for acquiring interests in the Roy Hill Iron Ore Mine Project. Roy Hill Holdings Pty Ltd is jointly invested by a number of foreign companies. Through this acquisition, Marubeni Iron Ore Australia will participate in the development of the mine and will secure 12.5% of the mine's annual output of iron ore.
Overseas investment loans
JBIC provides direct loans named overseas investment loans to Japanese companies, overseas affiliates or joint ventures where Japanese companies hold equity interests and governments or financial institutions partying with such overseas affiliates. The GTA includes state guarantees and other financial incentives that are likely to affect the restructuring and performance of firms facing international competition, whether from imports, in export markets and from foreign subsidiaries.
