Production subsidy

On May 2, 2016, the Argentinian Government passed the Resolution 162/2016 aimed at providing support to the producers engaged in the national dairy industry. The new law established a compensatory contribution for producers holding a Single Tax Identification Code (i.e. Clave Única de Identificación Fiscal) working for milking yards owned by milk distributors and also milking yard owners, as well as for mozzarella cheese manufacturers of Buenos Aires province. The compensation set was of USD 0.30 per litre for the first 3000 litres of milk daily produced during the months of February and March 2016, and USD 0.30 per kilogramme of mozzarella sold during the months of February and March 2016.

Furthermore, the Resolution obliged local Governments interested in joining this compensation scheme, to provide producers with an extra compensatory amount of USD 0.1 per litre for the first 3000 litres of milk daily produced.

The total budget established was of USD 35,263,542.08.
