Financial assistance in foreign market
The overseas investment loan agreement between JBIC and Kyushu Electric Wheatstone Pty Ltd. has a value of USD 400.428 million. The company is an Australian subsidiary of the Japanese company Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc.
The loan finances the subsidiary company's activities in an LNG project with Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell and other sponsors, which will transport the natural gas produced in, among others, the Wheatstone Iago Field. More specifically the loan will enable Kyushu Electric Wheatstone Pty Ltd. to acquire 1.83% interest in the upstream (development of natural gas fields) and 1.464% interest in liquefaction facilities from Chevron.
Overseas investment loans
JBIC provides direct loans named overseas investment loans to Japanese companies, overseas affiliates or joint ventures where Japanese companies hold equity interests and governments or financial institutions partying with such overseas affiliates.
