On December 2, 2016, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) allowed for a full rebate on the import tariffs paid by South Africans on flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel. The previous import duty rate for such products was of a 10% ad valorem. This provision comes from an amendment of section 75 of the Customs and Excise Act of 1964, part 2 of Schedule 4.
