Production subsidy

Effective 3 July 2015, Indian state of Kerala approved a Rubber Production Incentive Scheme for rubber farmers to protect them from falling global prices. The incentive is available to small farmers who own less than 5 hectares of land and the assistance will be available up to 2 hectares for each farmer & up to 1800 kg. per hectare per year.

As part of the assistance, the farmers will be paid the difference between Rs. 150 and the market price for the rubber, hence assuring a price of Rs. 150/kg. The government has earmarked INR 3000 million for this scheme.

On 7 August 2015, it was announced that the scheme is extended also to Rubber Latex. (see related measure)
