Import-related non-tariff measure, nes
On 21 July 2015, the Australian government announced new country of origin labelling regulations. With the new requirements, food products will have to be labelled with a bar chart indicating the percentage of ingredients produced in Australia.
The food labels will also have to indicate if the products have been imported and only repackaged in Australia.
The new regulations will come into force in 2016.
Given the new provisions will apply in first line to food products, the list of affected tariffs, sectors and jurisidictions is based on Australia's imports of goods classified under the HS codes 02-24 in 2014.
