On 26 August 2015, the National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh published SRO 276-AIN/2015/55-Customs imposing a regulatory duty of 20% on raw and refined sugar. According to reports, the measure was initiated to protect local suppliers in times of falling global prices of sugar. (A tariff value was also set on sugar imports in this regard - see related measure)
