According to the Recent Economic Developments report of 2011 published by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, on 11 January 2011 the duty waiver on petrol imports was increased from Rs. 20 to Rs. 30 per litre. This reduces the effective duty from Rs. 15 to Rs. 5 per litre.
 
Since 1 April 2011, a full duty waiver has been granted on petrol imports.
