On January 20, 2015, Phil McColeman, Member of Parliament for Brant announced that the Government of Canada, through FedDev Ontario, is providing the die-casting company Patriot Forge with up to $10 million in repayable funds to help it expand. The FedDev Ontario contribution will assist in financing a total project cost of $63 million, most of it going towards forging equipment including a 5,000-ton press.
A state measure in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
