ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 16 September 2013, the Ministry of Trade and Industry introduced import quotas on dairy, i.e., fresh, Extended Shelf Life (ESL, Ultra High Temperature (UHT) milk, buttermilk, curd, cream, cultured milk products, yoghurt and other fermented milk through an import permit system.
The measure was taken in response to a complaint by the Dairy Producers Association (DPA) of Namibia about import surges from South Africa.
On 18 August 2014, the High Court of Namibia lifted the restrictions.
