Export quota

On 29 December 2009, the Ministry of Commerce issued Notice No. 147 of 2009, introducing the first batch export quota on rare earths for 2010. Based on the document, the total quota is 16'304 tons, which is an increase of 60 percent compared to the first batch of 2009.
The notice does not destinguish between light and heavy rare earths. There are a total 22 Chinese companies qualified for the rare earth export in 2010. Only 20 were allowed to do so in 2009.
