On April 22nd, 2015, the Mexican Ministry of Economy decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of ceramic tiles for walls and floors from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 6907.9099 and 6908.9001. The complaint was lodged on December 19th, 2014 by Manufacturas Vitromex, S.A. de C.V. and Porcelanite Lamosa, S.A. de C.V. The investigation started on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on May 9th, 2015.
On 20 May 2016, the Mexican authorities imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of the above-mentioned goods from China. The rate of the duty imposed on imports ranges between USD 2.9 and 12.42 per square meter depending on the company.
On 25 October 2016, he Mexican authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good from China. The rate of duty is between USD 2.9 and 12.42 per square meter depending on the company. Notably, 228 companies committed to a price undertaking and are therefore exempt from definitive anti-dumping duties.
