Export tax

On 31 March 2011, the Government of India, vide Public Notice No. 44 (RE-2010) / 2009-2014, introduced a Minimum Export Price (MEP) on the export of 3 varieties of non-Basmati rice, of US $ 850 per MT.
 
This MEP applies only to the export of 150,000 MTs of non-Basmati rice, allowed in terms of Public Notice No. 37 (RE-2010) / 2009-2014. 
 
Update
The MEP of the 3 varieties of non-Basmati rice was reduced to $ 600 per MT, vide Public Notice No. 72 (RE-2010) / 2009-2014, issued by the Government of India on 12 August 2011.
