ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
Import-related non-tariff measure, nes
On June 10, 2015 the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced consideration of a trade-facilitation measure intended to ease the administrative burdens associated with egg imports. AMS administers the Shell Egg Surveillance Program, a mandatory inspection program intended to ensure that shell eggs sold to consumers contain no more restricted eggs than are permitted in the standards for consumer grades. In keeping with an administration-wide policy of using the International Trade Data System to modernize and simplify the import and export of cargo, AMS now proposes to incorporate electronic filing of import requests for shell eggs. The ITDS is an electronic 'single-window' for collecting and sharing trade data for reporting imports and exports among Federal agencies. Comments on this proposed rule must be received by August 10, 2015.
