Import tariff

On 11 November 2014, the Indian Ministry of Finance provided a temporary exemption from custom duties on import of bunker fuel for use in ships or vessels. The specific fuels valid under this measure are IFO 180 CST and IFO 380 CST. The exemption is available provided the fuels are used by Indian vessels or ships carrying cargo between Indian ports, including an intermediate foreign port and that such cargo is either containerised export-import cargo or empty containers.

The measure was initially valid until 11 May 2015. It has been extended indefinitely since 7 January 2015.
