Tax or social insurance relief

In 2009 the state of Michigan provided an incentives package to General Motors for battery production. The package consisted of $115 million in battery-pack tax credits; $45 million in vehicle-engineering credits; and another $6.8 million state tax credit.
 
The GTA includes state guarantees and other financial incentives thatare likely to affect the restructuring and performance of firms facinginternational competition, whether from imports, in export markets, andfrom foreign subsidiaries.
