Import licensing requirement

 On 5 January 2015, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade issued regulation 03/M-DAG/PER/1/2015 introducing new rules on the trade in crude oil, natural gas and other fuel types.
With the new provisions, gas and oil companies are required to possess a license as registered importers and to obtain approvals for the import of fuels. Article 3 of the regulation also states that imports may only be conducted based on the supply and demand situation in the country.
The regulation will come into force 90 days after its issuance, i.e. on 5 April 2015.
