On 23 January 2015, the Economic Coordination Committee of Pakistan approved an export quota of 1.2 million tons of wheat and an immediate ban on wheat imports. Out of the total quota 800,000 tons are to be exported from the Punjab province and 400,000 tons from the Sindh province. Further, a subsidy of $55 and $45 per ton has be preovided to Punjab and Sindh province respectively for these exports.
On 19 March 2015, the cut-off date for the export of the above quota and availing the subsidy was extended to 30 April and 15 May for exports from Sindh and Punjab respectively. On 19 June 2015, the cut-off date was further extended to 31 July 2015 for both provinces. This was again extended to 30 September 2015.
