On 7 September 2011, Indonesia introduced new regulations concerning the imports of live animals, carcasses, meats, edible offals and processed products (cf. Appendix II). By Ministry of Trade regulation 24/M-DAG/9/2011, imports of live animals and animal products will only be allowed in the case of insufficient domestic supply.
According to article 7 of the regulation, imports of carcass meat, offal, and/or their derivative products are allowed only 'for industry, hotel, restaurant, catering, and/or other specific need'.
The regulation came into force on 1 October 2011 and was amended by regulation 46/2013 on 29 August 2013 (cf. Related Measures).
