Import licensing requirement
On 7 September 2011,Indonesia introduced new regulations concerning the imports of carcasses, meats, edible offals and processed products. By Ministry of Agriculture regulation 50/Permentan/OT.140/9/2011, importers of the listed products will be required to obtain an import permit (SPP) from the Trade Ministry, which will be handed out only after receivng an Import Approval Recommendation (RPP) from the Agriculture Ministry.
Furthemore, the submission for a RPP can be conducted only between mid-August and mid-September, as well as between mid-February and mid-March.
Similar to previous provisions, the regulation also allows the imports only of whole duck/turkey and bans the imports of any chicken products.
The regulation came into force on 1 October 2011 and was amended by regulation 84/2013 on 29 August 2013 (cf. Related Measures).
