On 12 December 2011, the Indonesian Ministry of Justice enacted a new regulation by the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (hereinafter: BPOM) concerning the registration of imported processed food.
With the new regulation HK.03.1.5.12.11.09955, 'processed food produced domestically or imported to Indonesian territory to be traded in retail packages shall have a Registration Approval Letter' (art. 2(1) of the regulation). However, article 3(1) later specifies that processed food produced by the home industry shall be exempted from this requirement. Other exemptions include goods having a storage time of less than a week in room temperature or processed food used as raw materials.
The regulation came into force on the day of the enactment.
