Import licensing requirement
On 28 May 2013, the Indonesian Ministry of Justice enacted new regulations by the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (hereinafter: BPOM) concerning imported food and drugs.
With the new regulation 27/2013, importers of food and drugs (cf. appendix of the regulation for detailed list of products) will be required to have a distribution license ('circulation permit', art. 2(1)). Furthermore, the importers will have to obtain approval from the Head of the BPOM in the form of a Import Statement Letter (Surat Keterangan Impor).
The regulation came into force on the day of the enactment.
