On April 23 2013 the Kazakh Government adopted a regulation restricting gasoline imports from Russia and effectively imposed it in May 2013. The purpose of this measure is to protect the local market from saturation 'see source 2 below'.
 
The online issue of the newspaper Tengrinews.kz of 6 November 2013, citing information of the Ministry of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan, reports that that the restrictions on gasoline imports from Russia have been lifted in September 2013.
