Export tax

On 17 December 2008, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance announced regulation 223/PMK.011/2008 and as a result implemented export taxes on rattan, leather and timber products, as well as crude palm oil and its derivatives (hereinafter: CPO).
The export tax on rattan shall vary between 15 and 20%, whereas the one for leather between 15 and 25%. Timber exports, on the other hand, shall be taxed between 2 and 15%. A detailed list of the export taxes is available in the appendix of the regulation.
The export tax for CPO shall depend on the reference price on international markets. This price shall be given by the CPO CIF Rotterdam (art. 4(2) of regulation 223/PMK.011/2008.
The regulation came into force on 1 January 2009 and was amended by regulation 67/2010 on 1 April 2010 (cf. Related Measures). As the export tax on CPO depending on its reference price has been changed in the new regulation, this measure is no longer active.
