ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 9 September 2009, Brazil imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of pneumatic tires for automobile use, of radial design, with 13 and 14-inch rims, of series 65 and 70, with bands 165, 175 and 185, originating from China. The HS code in question is 4011.1000. The duty levied is a specific duty of USD$ 0.75 per kilogram. (Resolution n° 49, 8 September 2009) The country also decided to suspend the application of the anti-dumping duty for 6 months in the case of producers of automobiles, taking into account the governmental policy to motivate the purchase of popular automobiles through the reduction of the taxes applied to industrialized products (Imposto sobre Produtos Industrializados - IPI).
The anti-dumping investigation was initiated on 10 July 2008.
On 24 August 2012, the Brazilian authorities initiated a sunset review of the measure.
On 29 July 2013, the Government of Brazil published in the Official Journal the final results of the sunset review, resolving to continue, for a period of five years, the application of anti-dumping duties ranging from US$1.08 to US$2.17 per kilogram on imports of tires from China.
