Safeguard

On June 21, 2014, the Turkish authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of printing, writing and copying papers.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 4802.5515, 4802.5525, 4802.5530, 4802.5590, 4802.5620, 4802.5680, 4802.5700, 4802.5810 and 4802.5890.
This follows the application lodged by the domestic industry.
According to the UN Comtrade Database, in 2013 the following countries exported goods classified under HS code subheadings 4802.55, 4802.56, 4802.57 and 4802.58 to Turkey with a trade value over USD 1 million: Germany, United States of America, Indonesia, Sweden, Finland, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Canada, China, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Thailand, Spain, Italy, France, Brazil, Austria, India, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
 
On 28 August 2015, the Turkish authorities terminated the above investigation without the imposition of duties (Communiqué No. 2015/5).
