Safeguard

On September 30, 2014, the Tunisian Ministry of Trade and Crafts initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of glass bottles. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7010.9031, 7010.9041, 7010.9043, 7010.9045, 7010.9070, 7010.9051, 7010.9053, 7010.9055, 7010.9057,7010.9091 and 7010.9099. This follows the application lodged by Société Tunisienne de Verrerie, the sole domestic producer of the subject goods.
According to the UN Comtrade Database, in 2013 the following countries exported goods classified under HS code subheading 7010.90 to Tunisia with a trade value over USD 1 million: Italy (USD 8.12 million), France (USD 4.22 million), Spain (USD 1.87 million), China (USD 1.15 million) and Egypt (USD 1.04 million).

On 30 July 2015, the Tunisian authorities terminated the safeguard investigation on imports of the subject good without the imposition of duties.
