NoOn June 16, 2014, the Malaysian authorities decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of hot-rolled coils from China, Indonesia and the Republic of Korea.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7208.1000, 7208.2500, 7208.2600, 7208.2700, 7208.3600, 7208.3700, 7208.3800, 7208.3920, 7208.3990 and 7225.3000.
The request was lodged by Megasteel Sdn. Bhd. The Notice of initiation was published in the Malaysian Federal Government Gazette on June 18, 2014.
On October 17, 2014, the Malaysian authorities imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of hot-rolled coils from China, Indonesia and the Republic of Korea.
The rate of the duty imposed on imports originating in China ranges from 14.87% to 29.37%. The rate of the duty imposed on imports originating in Indonesia ranges from 12.15% to 29.37%. The rate of the duty imposed on imports originating in the Republic of Korea ranges from 3.15% to 29.37%.
On February 10, 2015, the Malaysian authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of hot-rolled coils from China and Indonesia. No definitive anti-dumping measure was imposed on imports originating in South Korea. Reason for this decision is that the volume of imports is at a negligible level.
The rate of the duty imposed on imports originating in China ranges from 2.49% to 15.62%, depending on the exporter and on the exact classification of the good. The rate of the duty imposed on imports originating in Indonesia ranges from 11.20% to 25.40%, depending on the exact classification of the good.
This definitive anti-dumping duty entered into force on February 14, 2015, and is applicable for a period of five years.
On 30 January 2019, the Malaysian authorities issued Notice P.U. (B) 65/2019 terminating the definitive duty imposed on imports of hot-rolled coils from China and Indonesia. The duty is terminated as authorities found the imposition of duties was no longer necessary. The duty is terminated as of 9 February 2019.
