On October 7, 2014, the Brazilian authorities, after having conducted an expiry review, decided upon the continuation of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of supercalandered (SC) paper (paperweight 35-90 gsm) from Finland and the United States of America (Resolution No. 89, 07.10.2014).
The products subject to the duty are classified under the following HS code: 4806.4000.
The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in Finland is USD 277.95 per metric ton, at the exception of the company UPM-Kymmene Corporation whose exports are subject to a duty of USD 199.00 per metric ton. The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in the United States of America is USD 1,117.61 per metric ton.
This definitive anti-dumping duty entered into force on the day of the publication of the resolution in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on October 8, 2014, and is applicable for a period of five years.
This duty follows an expiry review requested on May 23, 2013 by MD Papéis Ltda. A review was then initiated by the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade on October 11, 2013 (Circular No. 61, 11.10.2013). The review started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on October 14, 2013.
The original anti-dumping duty entered into force on October 23, 2008 (Resolution No. 63, 22.10.2008).
