Import tariff

On 15 July 2014, the European Commission issued Regulation No. 774/2014, setting import duties on maize, sorghum and rye above zero for the first time since the second half of 2010. The products (under several codes of CN headings 1002, 1005, and 1007) now incur duties of EUR 5.32 per tonne. Reductions are available for specified ports of unloading. For maize, the duty-free quota remains in place; however, at the time the Implementing Regulation was issued, the quota for 2014 had already been taken up in full.
The measure entered into force on 16 July 2014 and was replaced by a further intervention on 18 September 2014 (see related measure).
