Import tariff

On 10 October 2014, upon the advice of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), the South African Revenue Service (SARS) issued Notice R. 781, increasing the import tariffs on wheat (HS 1001.91; 1001.99) to 15.7c/kg and on wheaten flour (HS 1101.00.10; 1101.00.90) to 23.5c/kg. Imports of these goods had been free of duty since 27 August 2010. Imports from SADC member states remain exempt from the duty.
 
The measure took effect on 10 October 2014 and applies ot the Southern African Customs Union (SACU).
