Import tariff

On 11 April 2014, upon the advice of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), the South African Revenue Service (SARS) issued Notice R. 272, increasing the import tariffs on coated fine paper (HS 4810) from 0% of duty to 5% for products entering the Southern African Customs Union (SACU). Imports from EU, EFTA and Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states remain exempt from the duty. The ITAC decided to raise the customs duty since the domestic industry is not price competitive vis-ŕ-vis imports.

On 6 February 2015, the customs duty was reduced from 5% to 0%, according to ITAC Minute M07/2014.
