ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On August 14, 2014, the European Commission announced the initiation of an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of flat-rolled products of stainless steel (not further worked than cold-rolled) from China (Notice No 2014/C 267/06).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7219.3100, 7219.3210, 7219.3290, 7219.3310, 7219.3390, 7219.3410, 7219.3490, 7219.3510, 7219.3590, 7220.2021, 7220.2029, 7220.2041, 7220.2049, 7220.2081 and 7220.2089.
The complaint was lodged on July 1, 2014 by the European Steel Association (EUROFER) on behalf of producers representing more than 25% of the EU production of the subject goods.
On December 15, 2014, the European Commission decided to make imports of stainless steel cold-rolled flat products originating in China and Chinese Taipei subject to registration (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1331/2014). This decision entered into force on the day following the publication of the regulation in the Official Journal of the European Union (L 359), i.e. on December 17, 2014 and shall expire after nine months.
On July 23rd, 2015, the European Commission decided to terminate the investigation without imposing any countervailing duty (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2015/1206, 23.07.2015). The reason for this decision is the withdrawal of the complaint by the complainant on May 11th, 2015.
Hence, Regulation No 1331/2014 dated December 15th, 2014 making imports of stainless steel cold-rolled flat products originating in China and Chinese Taipei was repealed.
This decision entered into force on the day following the publication of the regulation in the Official Journal of the European Union (L 196), i.e. on July 25th, 2015.
