On November 13, 2009, the Pakistani authorities initiated a review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of tiles from China after the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered it.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 6907.1000, 6907.9000, 6908.1000 and 6908.9000.
The original anti-dumping duty was imposed on November 30, 2006 for a period of five years.
On February 23, 2010, the National Tariff Commission of Pakistan made a preliminary determination with the imposition of a provisional duty whose rate ranges from 14.85% to 23.65%.
After the initiation of the November 2009 review was challenged in court, Pakistan's Appellate Tribunal ordered the National Tariff Commission to initiate another review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of tiles from China.
On April 5, 2014, the National Tariff Commission of Pakistan made a preliminary determination with the imposition of a provisional duty whose rate ranges from 0% to 40.99%.
According to the WTO semi-annual report on anti-dumping practices implemented by Pakistan dated August 29, 2014, the preliminary determination has been set aside by the Lahore High Court. It means that the provisional duty imposed on February 23, 2010 and modified on April 5, 2014 remained into force for a period not exceeding 54 months at most.
