Public procurement localisation

The City Council of New York approved on July 28, 2011, and the Mayor of New York signed into law on August 17, 2011, a measure (designated as Local Law 50) by which the city chief procurement officer is directed to 'encourage agencies to make best efforts to purchase New York state food.' The law provides inter alia for 'establishing guidelines for agencies that will assist in increasing the purchase of New York state food products' and regular monitoring of food purchases.
