ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
Import tariff quota
On 27 April 2012, the European Commission (EC) issued Regulation 366/2012, amending Regulation 543/2011 by adjusting the trigger level forcucumbers and cherries (other than sour cherries)
The trigger level defines the preferential import tariff quota. Imports above the trigger level will be subject to additional duties. Therefore, an increase in the trigger level is seen as an indirect decrease in the import duties, while a decrease in the trigger level represents an augmentation in the import duties.
The trigger level has been decreased in the case of cucumbers but increased in the case of cherries. It is uncertain which effect will be dominant, hence the measure is considered potentially trade distorting. The measure entered into force on 27 April 2012
With the introduction of regulation 353/2013 (related measures), on 18 April 2013, both trigger levels have been amended. The described measure thus expired on that date.
